Utah's landscapes and diverse terrain provide a stunning backdrop for runners. (If you know me, you know I'm one of them!)

Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or a first-time participant, Utah offers a range of marathon events that cater to various interests and abilities. Here are just a few.

St. George Marathon

The St. George Marathon is a must for any avid marathoner. Known for its stunning scenery and fast course, this marathon takes you on a journey through the stunning landscapes of southern Utah. The race starts in the majestic Pine Valley Mountains and descends nearly 2,600 feet into the charming city of St. George. With its breathtaking red rock canyons and vibrant fall foliage, this marathon is both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

Salt Lake City Marathon

The Salt Lake City Marathon offers a unique blend of urban and mountainous terrain. Starting in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, runners traverse the city's iconic landmarks, including the Utah State Capitol and Liberty Park. As you make your way through the city, you'll also encounter the challenge of altitude, with portions of the race reaching over 4,300 feet in elevation.

Big Cottonwood Marathon

If you're a lover of alpine scenery, the Big Cottonwood Marathon is tailor-made for you. Starting in Big Cottonwood Canyon, this race takes you through forests, past lakes, and along the banks of the Big Cottonwood River. The downhill course offers a chance for personal bests while immersing you in Utah's beauty.

Moab Trail Marathon

For my fellow trail runners out there, the Moab Trail Marathon is a bucket-list race. Set against the iconic backdrop of Moab's red rock landscapes and Arches National Park, this marathon provides a challenging yet awe-inspiring experience. You'll navigate rugged trails and take in panoramic views of towering red rock formations.

Top of Utah Marathon

The Top of Utah Marathon offers the best of small-town charm and a fast course. Beginning in Logan, this marathon course gently descends through Cache Valley, providing an ideal setting for achieving a personal best. The scenic countryside and welcoming atmosphere make it a favorite among both local and visiting runners.

Bryce Canyon Ultras

For those seeking an ultra-marathon challenge, the Bryce Canyon Ultras are a dream come true. This event offers distances ranging from 50 miles to 50 kilometers and takes runners through the awe-inspiring Bryce Canyon National Park. You'll traverse hoodoos, canyons, and forests in a truly unique trail running experience.

Ogden Marathon

The Ogden Marathon combines scenic beauty with the warmth of a tight-knit community. Nestled against the backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains, this marathon begins in the picturesque Ogden Canyon and heads through Ogden's charming neighborhoods. The race's downhill course provides a perfect blend of challenge and speed, making it an attractive option for both experienced runners and those seeking their first marathon.
